Terms of Service
Effective date: October 29, 2026
Last updated: October 29, 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern access to and use of BSMS Web (“the Service”). By creating an account or affirmatively accepting these Terms when prompted, you agree to follow them. If you do not agree, do not create an account or use features that require acceptance. If you are not legally able to agree to these Terms on your own, you should involve a parent or legal guardian where required by applicable law.
BSMS Web is an independent project. Unless expressly confirmed by the relevant school authority, it is not an official service of, and should not be understood as endorsed by, Boiling Springs Middle School or any school district.
1. Eligibility and Accounts
- Provide information that is accurate to the extent requested by the service, and do not impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity in a harmful or deceptive way.
- Keep your login credentials private and take reasonable steps to protect access to your account.
- You are responsible for activity performed through your account to the extent permitted by applicable law. Notify the service through available support channels if you believe your account has been accessed without permission.
- Do not create accounts to evade a suspension, ban, or other enforcement action.
- We may limit, suspend, or disable accounts where reasonably necessary to enforce these Terms, protect users, investigate abuse, or maintain the Service.
2. Acceptable Use
You may not use BSMS Web to:
- Harass, threaten, bully, intimidate, stalk, or target another person.
- Post unlawful, seriously harmful, deceptive, or abusive content, or content that violates another person's rights.
- Share another person's private information without permission, including passwords, authentication tokens, home addresses, phone numbers, or sensitive identifying details.
- Impersonate another person, mislead users about official school or staff status, or falsify moderation or support reports.
- Spam, flood chats, disrupt other users, or misuse reporting and account systems.
- Attempt to access another user's account, private data, backend services, credentials, or administrative tools without authorization.
- Probe, scan, overload, interfere with, or bypass technical safeguards or rate limits without authorization.
- Use bots, scripts, exploits, or automation to gain an unfair advantage, disrupt service operation, or evade rules.
- Upload or transmit malware, malicious links, or content intended to compromise a device or account.
- Use the Service in a way that violates applicable law or the rules that apply to you.
3. User Content and Visibility
You remain responsible for the content you submit, to the extent permitted by law. Do not submit content you have no right to share. Depending on the feature, content may be shown to other users, processed by moderation systems, or reviewed when necessary to investigate a report or enforce these Terms. Do not assume that chat messages or other content are confidential, ephemeral, or visible only to the intended recipient unless the feature clearly states that.
You grant the Service permission to host, store, reproduce, transmit, and display your submitted content only as reasonably necessary to operate, secure, and provide the features you use. This permission is limited to those service purposes and does not transfer ownership of your content to the Service.
4. Moderation and Enforcement
BSMS Web may use automated filters, moderation services, user reports, and human review where available to help enforce these Terms. Automated tools can make mistakes and may not understand context. We may remove or restrict content, limit features, suspend accounts, or apply other proportionate measures when we believe it is necessary to protect users or the Service.
Where practical, users may submit a report or request review through available support tools. We do not guarantee that every report will result in a particular outcome or that every enforcement decision can be appealed.
5. Availability and Changes
The Service is provided on an evolving basis. Features may change, become temporarily unavailable, or be discontinued. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, error-free operation, permanent storage of content, or compatibility with every device. We may perform maintenance or restrict access when reasonably needed to operate, protect, or improve the Service.
6. Third-Party Services and Links
Some features depend on third-party providers or link to external websites. Those services may have their own terms, privacy practices, availability, and security risks. To the extent permitted by law, BSMS Web is not responsible for third-party services that it does not operate. A link or integration does not by itself mean that BSMS Web endorses the third party.
7. Intellectual Property
The Service's original interface, branding, and materials may be protected by applicable intellectual-property laws, except where otherwise stated or where third-party rights apply. You may not use project branding to falsely suggest official authorization. Open-source components and repository content may be governed by their respective licenses; those licenses continue to apply to the material they cover.
8. Privacy
The Privacy Policy explains the information practices associated with BSMS Web. It is available at /privacy. These Terms do not replace the Privacy Policy, and accepting these Terms does not constitute blanket consent to data processing for which separate consent is legally required.
9. Disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Nothing in these Terms excludes a warranty or right that cannot lawfully be excluded.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the operator of BSMS Web will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, goodwill, or opportunity arising from or related to use of or inability to use the Service. Nothing in these Terms limits liability where such limitation is prohibited by law. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations, so portions of this section may not apply to you.
11. Suspension and Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time and may use available account tools to request account deletion. We may restrict or terminate access as described in these Terms. Provisions that by their nature should continue after access ends, including provisions about content already shared, disclaimers, liability, and interpretation, may continue to apply to the extent permitted by law.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may revise these Terms as the Service changes. The effective date and last-updated date above identify the currently published version. When an update requires renewed acceptance, BSMS Web will identify the updated documents and request affirmative acknowledgment. Authenticated features may be restricted until the required acknowledgment is recorded. If you do not accept a required update, you should stop using the features that require acceptance; available account-deletion and support options may remain accessible. Continuing to browse the website does not replace affirmative acceptance.
13. Governing Rules and Contact
These Terms are subject to applicable law. Any governing-law or dispute-resolution rules that may apply will be determined in light of the operator's circumstances and mandatory legal requirements; this document does not designate a specific jurisdiction or court. For questions, reports, or concerns, use the support or reporting options made available by BSMS Web.
This document is a working draft intended for review, not legal advice. Before relying on it as a final agreement, the operator should confirm the actual operating entity, contact details, applicable jurisdiction, age-related requirements, and enforceability of its provisions with a qualified legal professional.
